As the official New Orleans Saintsations salon, Paris Parker takes care to ensure the cheerleaders are living their best hair life both on and off the field. We sat down with one of our hairstylists, Adam Cosgrove, who works closely with the cheerleaders to keep their hair on-point for game days, photo shoots and everyday life. Read on for his tips and tricks for achievably flawless (and photo-ready) hair.

Like the rest of the fashion world, dimensional color and a fresh balayage are fan favorites for the Saintsations. But let’s be honest, very few things in life are really one-size-fits all—including hair trends. So when it comes to determining the right colors and style, Adam discusses key factors with each Saintsation. “We look at their lifestyle, maintenance routine and gravitate towards tones that make them pop.”

In the age of HD camera phones and social media, being photo-ready is a necessity—and not just for the Saintsations! He says the secret to success is using the right products at all three stages: prep, style and finish. While he switches things up depending on hair texture and style, he told us he loves finishing the cheerleaders’ styles with Aveda’s Air Control—a flexible, lasting-hold hairspray paired with Light Elements Smoothing Fluid to tame fly-aways and add extra shine.

Another tip from our pro—starting with clean hair can cause challenges. “Depending on the texture of your hair, especially if your hair has a hard time holding style to begin with, it’s a good idea to prep the night before—maybe even two nights before—using a strong hold gel or mousse in wet hair and blow dry.”

Stand out from the crowd with shiny hair that lasts with Aveda’s Demi +. Made with a conditioning blend of certified organic plant oils, kukui, sunflower and more, Demi + not only improves damaged hair, it adds a radiant shine. Bonus: this shine treatment can take as little as 15 minutes and you’ll walk out with a gorgeous high-gloss that screams “super star.”

To keep hair looking and feeling healthy, Adam recommends visiting your stylist every 5 to 6 weeks for a shine service and trim.

Additional advice Adam gives to the Saintsations (and we’re taking note):

  • Apply products on damp hair for even distribution throughout your locks.
  • Seal your work using Air Control or Control Force!
  • If you indulge in frequent coloring or heat styles, a moisturizing conditioner, hair masque or leave-in conditioner is a must.
  • Use Brilliant Anti-Humectant on dry hair (mid-shaft to the ends) to reinforce humidity defense and combat frizz.
  • Your hair needs sunscreen, too, because over exposure to UV rays can cause discoloration, dry and brittle strands, thinning and fizziness. We love Aveda’s Sun Care Protective Veil.
