What do we love even more than good food and good friends? Honestly, not a whole lot…unless you add a good cause to the mix. And that’s exactly what our team at Paris Parker’s Prytania Street location did last month when they held a special fundraising barbecue event for Earth Month.

“The barbecue was a lot of fun and got the whole neighborhood involved,” says stylist Courtney Bradberry.

This being New Orleans, the food was excellent…and plentiful. Plates of barbecue sold for $10 each and featured hamburgers, hot dogs, brisket, drums, thighs and chicken wings donated by On The Canal Bar in Houma. Every Paris Parker who donated a home-cooked side brought their A-game to the table: green beans, baked beans, potato salad and macaroni and cheese rounded out the meal. For dessert, Nothing Bundt Cakes donated 50 cakes.

“People thought it was awesome,” Courtney says. “Even if it wasn’t a fundraiser they would’ve bought food, because it was good, homemade food.”

Neighbors, friends and family enjoyed the afternoon barbecue, and we’re thrilled to say that our joint efforts raised $1,050 for the Gulf Restoration Network and the Lower Mississippi Riverkeepers. A big thank you to everyone who participated—you all made the event a huge success.

“It’s a good kick-off to Earth Month and a way to raise awareness about local nonprofit organizations,” Courtney says. “Getting people talking is nice, and we got to know a lot of people in the community.”
